This kale of many names is also known as Tuscan Kale or Italian Kale. The beauty of heirlooms like this is the history they carry with them. This kale dates back to the 18th century and was grown by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello (I’d like to acknowledge that of course it was grown by his slaves more than it was grown by him). Sweeter, milder, heavily crinkled blue-green strap leaves impart excellent flavor. This by far is our favorite type of kale for soups, sauteing, and for anything requiring a hardier green. We know you’ll like it for its flavor, and for the ease of growing.
