Tall showy stems of dark purple bobbing bells make this plant a real showpiece in your garden. Each raceme produces 30 small blooms on stems that can reach 3' tall. Blooms from May-June.
Growing Instructions: Plant your fritillaria bulbs 6" deep in the fall in well-drained amended soil. Soil drainage is extremely important so do your best to amend the soil in the area you plan to plant. Consider adding compost and sand if your soil is hard or claylike. Plant your bulb slightly on its side to prevent it from rotting. water directly after planting to remove air pockets, then refrain from watering in fall and winter. Plants perform best in full sun in the northern parts of the growing range but appreciate some light afternoon shade in hot summer areas.
