This paste tomato is easy-to-care-for and a prolific plant providing more fruit longer. The long, blocky fruits mature with a small, discreet seed cavity that can be scooped out, leaving all meat. If you plan to make sauce with your tomatoes consider adding this variety to the mix to thicken up the sauce naturally. The meatiness of this plant means much less boiling to get a first-class paste. The shape is also good for canning by themselves and is excellent for drying. Some say it’s Italy’s preferred paste tomato being that it’s sweet and low in acid.

Planting instructions: Because tomatoes have a long growing season, it’s best to start them indoors to give them a head start (especially where the summers are short). Sow tomato seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost in spring. Plant seeds ¼ inch deep in seed-starting formula, harden off, and transplant outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. When transplanting outdoors burry the stem about 1/3 deep to promote more roots forming.
